OFFSEASON ATTRITION IS a way of life in college football. That doesn't make it any less abrupt. Eight Beavers have left the program, Oregon State announced today. They are: WR Jordan Bishop, WR Geno Munoz, CB Keynan Parker, LB Cade Cowdin, QB Jack Lomax, LB Zeke Sanders, LB Will Storey and WR Tyler Trosin.
The release from Oregon State:
Senior wide receiver
Jordan Bishop
has elected to retire from football and track at Oregon State University due to injuries, head football coach
Mike Riley
announced Thursday.
Bishop, a West Salem High graduate, lettered three years in football and concludes his career with 66 receptions for 893 yards and four touchdowns. He played in 34 games, starting 12, and will graduate in human development and family studies following summer term.
“It’s disappointing that Jordan will not be able to play his senior season,” Riley said. “He has been a tremendous team member and will always be a part of Beaver Nation. I wish him the best in what will be surely a successful professional career of his choosing.”
Bishop, who has battled ankle and foot injuries recently, was a high jumper in track for the Beavers and earned All-America honors in 2010.
RILEY ALSO ANNOUNCED
that the following student-athletes have left the team to pursue other opportunities or for personal reasons; senior wide receiver
Geno Munoz
, senior cornerback
Keynan Parker
, junior linebacker
Cade Cowdin
, junior quarterback
Jack Lomax
, junior linebacker
Zeke Sanders
, freshman-redshirt linebacker
Will Storey
and freshman-redshirt wide receiver
Tyler Trosin
.
Munoz, who has also fought injuries during his career, has graduated with a degree in human development and family studies. Parker, a native of British Columbia, was drafted in May by the Canadian Football League’s Montreal Alouettes.
The Beavers open the 2012 season Sept. 1 vs. Nicholls State at Reser Stadium, before Big Ten Conference foe Wisconsin visits Sept. 8. The season opener will mark the first time OSU will appear on the Pac-12 Networks.
Season tickets are on sale now by calling 1-800-GO-BEAVS between 9 a.m. and 5 p.m. or online.
