Western Washington University added a pair of Tylers to their roster Thursday as 6-9 junior center Tyler MacMullen from Edmonds CC as well as 6-foot-7 junior forward Tyler Amaya from Dixie College, Utah via Gonzaga and Mount Vernon High School inked with Coach Brad Jackson’s Vikings.

MacMullen, who attended Kamiak High School, did not play organized basketball until the last two years, when he joined the team at Edmonds CC after being discovered in a physical education class. He lettered as a freshman and earned first-team NWAACC Northern Division all-star status this season as a sophomore for the 21-9 Tritons. He averaged 15.0 points and 10.2 rebounds, ranking second in the NWAACC in rebounds and being one of just two northwest community college players to average a double-double.

Amaya averaged 10.0 points and 7.0 rebounds for 22-9 Dixie, which won the Scenic West Athletic Conference title.

The Vikings return three of the top four scorers from last year’s 17-10 team.
