Vegas Day-4, FOH wins Nike Main Event

For the second time in three years Friends of Hoop has won a championship in July in Las Vegas. It was literally a “March or Die” effort to get to the title game as FOH played 5 games Sunday, beginning at 11:30 a.m. and ending with an 8:50 p.m. tip-off for the championship game of the first Nike Main Event tournament.

Two summers ago it was this same group, following their freshman year, that won the “C” Division title at the then adidas Big Time tournament. And just like two summers ago it was Jon Brockman and Martell Webster leading the way. Brockman scored 19, Webster 16 as FOH coach Jim Marsh used his depth to run away from a tired team from Maryland.

Two years ago just two college coaches watched this team as they worked their way through the "C" Division bracket, UW's Cameron Dollar and a Stanford assistant. This time it was still UW and Stanford, but it was head coaches from those two along with the big dogs from the likes of Duke, North Carolina, Gonzaga, UCLA, Arizona, UConn, Kansas, Texas and Maryland giving the love to these as well as other Washington players.

And while Friends of Hoop was finished, others were still playing at the Reebok Big Time and the adidas Super Sixty Four.
