Catching up with: Seamus Boxley

Former Mountlake Terrace Hawk Seamus Boxley has become just the 15th player in Portland State University history to reach the 1,000 point plateau. Boxley has moved into the 11th spot on the all-time scoring list for the Vikings.

Seamus, who is over 600 rebounds for his collegiate career, was a first team All-Big Sky selection and Defensive Player of the Year last season.

The 6-7 senior forward, who was forced to take a medical redshirt during the 2002-2003 season, also holds the school record for blocked shots in a career, over 100 and growing, as well as single season blocks record, 34.

So far for his senior season Boxley has rung up four double-doubles, giving him 17 d-d's during his career. He was leading the Big Sky in scoring, 18.4ppg, heading into the Christmas break.

But what impresses his former high school coach Nalin Sood the most, "Seamus is maintaining a 3.5 GPA and locking guys up on D."

Boxley's career highlights:

-2003-04 1st team All-Big Sky Conference

-2003-04 Big Sky Conference Defensive Player of the Year

-2001-02 Honorable Mention All-Big Sky Conference

-2000-01 Big Sky Conference co-Freshman of the Year Recommended Stories
