Former Mount Vernon Bulldog and current University of New Mexico Lobo Troy DeVries had a career-high 22 points in the opening round of the Lobo Invitational during the holiday break.

The Lobos are off to an 11-2 start in DeVries’ senior campaign, his second in Albuquerque since transferring from Portland State. UNM’s losses have come against Oregon, by 4 points on the road, and Wake Forest, a rare loss at home in the “Pit.”

The 6-4 shooting guard averaged 11.1ppg and shot 42.9% from outside the arc in the first 13 games of his final collegiate season.

During his junior season he earned honorable mention All-Mountain West Conference honors as well as CoSIDA Academic All-District and Academic All-MWC awards while maintaining over a 3.5 GPA as a Communications major.

The 2001 Mount Vernon grad was a four-year letterman for head coach Mac Fraser. As a senior he averaged 15ppg with 5 rebounds, 4 assists and 3 steals as the Bulldogs ran off a perfect 27-0 season with a state championship trophy.
