A bucket full of former Washington prep stars have either been drafted or have already signed contracts to play professional hoops in places ranging from China to Denmark, Holland and Italy.

Drafted to play in the Chinese Basketball Association were Michael Fey (UCLA/Capital), Mike Jensen (UW/Kentwood), Doug Wrenn (UW/O’Dea), Eric Sandrin (SPU/Shorecrest) and Ryan Rourke (Cornell/Bothell).

Fey, a member of the Bruin’s 2006 NCAA Final Four squad, was a second round pick of Guangdong Dongguan New Century

Wrenn, a hoops vagabond with stops in the ABA, Brazil, the Philippines and Austalia, was selected in the second round as well by Xinjiang Guanghui.

Sandrin, a third round pick by Fujian Xunxing, has played for the Los Angeles Lakers summer squad, spent three pre-season games with the Sacramento Kings, as well as being the only Caucasian member of the famed Harlem Globetrotters. Sandrin has played professionally in Luxembourg and Brazil as well as a stint with the Bellevue franchise of the American Basketball Association.

Jensen, a Class of 2006 Husky, was taken in the third round by Shanxi Gaitianli.

2006 Cornell grad Rourke was selected by Jiangsu Nangang Dragons in the fourth round.

Tony Binetti (SPU/Enumclaw), a consensus D-1 All-American who led SPU to the D-2 semi-finals in 2006 has signed to play for Ignis Castelletto Ticino of the Italian-2 league. Binetti had finished the 2006 season with defending Italian champion ClimaMio Bologna.

Signing to play for Woon!Aris, a member of the top Dutch league, was former Western Washington and Mount Vernon standout Tyler Amaya.

Another former WWU Viking and King’s High School Knight, Craig Roosendaal, has signed to play with the Svendborg Rabbits in Denmark's top division. Roosendaal had played for the Bellingham Slam of the ABA for the past two seasons.

As Amaya told us “this is a dream, getting paid to play basketball.”
