DL Chris Mastin Sr. LC
Chris is the first of a few players on this list that have committed to play for the Cougars. First team All-GSL as member of 2007 state championship team. Has the speed to be in backfield all season long, no matter who he is playing.
OL Anthony Luna Sr. Gonzaga Prep
First team GSL pick as a junior in 2007. One of the biggest players in the league should be able to physically dominate the opposition. He also has the genes, brother Greg played at Toledo.
WR Jake Partridge Sr. Rogers
First team all-league and leading receiver in a talented GSL last year. Had over 40 catches and 600 yards. He should find himself at the top of most the receiving statistics again this season.
WR Ryane Laforte Sr. Mead
Laforte was just behind Partridge in all the statistics. Had two less catches and 58 less yards. He was also named first team all-league and should give Partridge a run for top receiver in the league. It will be fun to watch the two battle it out this season.
RB Cody Peterson Sr. Rogers
Cody will be the leading returning rusher in the conference this season. Although his yardage totals weren’t the highest in the league he did have the highest yards per carry average for any player with more than 70 carries. I expect him to get the ball more this year and rack up the yards.
WR Matt Lynch Sr. Mead
The third receiver to make my list. Matt made the most of his receptions last year, scoring 7 touchdowns on just 29 catches. Also had the fifth highest receiving yards. Big playmaker for Mead
DE Travis Long Sr. Gonzaga Prep
Great size and very good speed. Second team All-GSL a junior. All around athlete holds an offer from WSU. Should be able to run over or around most offensive linemen in the league.
DB Brad Whitley Sr. Central Valley
Brad had three interceptions last season and figures to be one of the anchors of the Central Valley Team. Was selected first team all-GSL as a junior, I expect another all league year.
QB Connor Halliday Jr. Ferris
Just led Ferris to a title at the Big Kahuna passing tournament. Has big shoes to fill stepping in for Jeff Minnerly, but has a supporting cast around him that could lead to a huge season.
TE/DE Aaron Dunn Jr. Shadle Park
News just broke this week about Aaron becoming the earliest commit in Cougar history. Should allow him to focus on the upcoming season and continue to improve as one of the best players in the conference.
I’m sure there are many more talented players in the GSL. Visit the message board and let me know who got left out.
