This weekend doesn’t have the huge matchups that the past two weeks did. Instead this weekend features teams in the middle of the pack facing each other in conference play. After this weekend we should have a better idea of which teams are contenders and pretenders…
Thursday Night
#10 Kentridge vs. Bethel, 7pm, French Field
This is the first substantial crossover between the SPSL South and North. It should lend some bragging rights to the conference that wins. Both teams figure to be in the playoff hunt at the end of the season. I think Kentridge slows down the Braves running attack and earns the win.
Mt. Spokane vs. #9 Ferris, 4:45pm, Albi
Mt. Spokane is the best 3A team in the GSL; Ferris can make an argument to be the best in 4A. This game may decide who is the best team overall. This is a rivalry game with title hopes on the line as well. Should be a fun one to watch, I think Ferris has the slight edge.
Friday Night
#8 Jackson vs. Edmonds-Woodway, 7pm, Edmonds Stadium
Jackson appears to be the class of the WesCo conference. Their game with EW has become one of the most competitive over the past few seasons. EW may be a bit down this year but the game should be just as competitive as ever.
Enumclaw vs. #5 Lakes, 7pm, Harry Lang
Enumclaw and Lakes are both undefeated as they head into this matchup. Lakes has gone untested so far this season, can Enumclaw give them a game? I don’t think so, but I wouldn’t put it past the Hornets.
Olympia vs. South Kitsap, 7pm, Olympia
Along with Foss HS, these are the only two undefeated teams left in the Narrows league. This game will go a long way in deciding who takes the league title. I see Olympia’s defense being dominant in this one.
Ferndale vs. Lynden, 7pm, Lynden
These teams are both off to a rough start, having lost a game earlier this season. But if you ask either fan base this game is as big as ever. This rivalry game is one of the best up North.
Feel free to let me know how the games you attend go on our message boards. Have a fun weekend of football…
