Friday Night Spotlight

Here is a list of the top games in the state of Washington this weekend. Should be a game in your area for almost anyone in the state…

This is do or die weekend for many teams around the state. A season worth of work comes down to one game this weekend. I know I didn’t list all the games that decide playoff berths but here are most of them…

Thursday Night
#1 Skyline @ #2 Bothell , 7pm, Pop Keeney
No doubt this is the game of the season. These two teams have been the favorites in 4A since week one. The game will probably be the first of two meetings between these teams this season. A state semifinal rematch seems likely.

Central Valley @ Mead, 7:15pm, Albi
The GSL is a mess. CV is the only team in 4A with a locked up playoff spot. I won’t go into all the tie-breaker scenarios but Mead probably needs to win if they want to lock up a spot.

Friday Night
University @ Ferris , 8pm, Albi
Both of these teams have to win and hope for some good luck from the teams above them. The loser has no hope of making the playoffs.

Lewis & Clark @ Gonzaga Prep, 7pm, G-Prep
G-Prep is in the driver seat for a playoff spot. If they win they are in… but in the GSL this season that has been easier said than done.

Kentwood @ Kentlake, 7pm, French Field
The seeding in the SPSL North is a mess… but all these two teams should care about is winning. The winner is in and the loser is out, they can worry about seeds later.

Issaquah @ Woodinville, 7pm, Pop Keeney
This crossover playoff matchup decides who moves on to the state round of 32. This is essentially the first playoff game of the season.

Kamiak @ Mountlake Terrace, 7pm, Mountlake Terrace
#7 Jackson @ Cascade, 7pm, Cascade
I combined these two games because it is such a mess up North. Jackson is in and the #1 seed. Everyone else is fighting for their lives. Mountlake Terrace needs some help, even if they win they need Cascade to lose in order to grab a birth. However if they both lose it looks like Cascade will be on the outside looking in.

Stanwood @ Arlington, 7pm, Arlington
Assuming Lake Stevens beats Snohomish…Winner in, loser out.

Feel free to let me know how the games you attend go on our message boards. Have a fun weekend of football…
