Kentridge vs. Inglemoor-
11-6 Inglemoor- Inglemoor ahead at the end of the 1st quarter, Kentridge came out sluggish on both ends. Benji Bryant for Inglemoor got things going offensively finishing the quarter with 6 points. Kentridge will need to get into their offense more if they want to stay in this game. KentridgeÕs student section travels well; they filled up atleast the three or four rows.
23-20 Kentridge- Kentridge came out as an entirely new team at the beginning of the second quarter, Senior Shaquille McKissic and Sophomore Gary Bell each had 3-point plays that put Kentridge on a 6-0 run and gave them a one point lead. Inglemoor and Kentridge traded baskets for much of the second quarter. KentridgeÕs defense frustrated the Vikings causing turnovers and forced shots. McKissic scored in multiple ways leading all scorers with 11 at the half and gave Kentridge a 3-point lead. It doesnÕt look like Inglemoor can stick with the Chargers if they continue their tough defense.
39-28 Kentridge- It was the Gary Bell show in the third quarter, the Chargers started the quarter on a 12-4 run, with Bell scoring the first 10 points for Kentridge. Inglemoor had several turnovers and forced shots, and could do very little against the Kentridge D. Frustration is evident for the Vikings, they have no answer for KentridgeÕs two athletic guards Bell, and McKissick. Bell finished the quarter with 12 points, to go along with his 18 overall. ItÕs KentridgeÕs game to lose at this point.
60-48 Kentridge- Gary Bell picked up where he left off from the 3rd quarter and started the 4th with an impressive mid-range jumper. Multiple fouls by Kentridge enabled Inglemoor to stay within 10 points or so for the first half of the 4th quarter. McKissic threw down a thunderous dunk with about 3:30 left. The Vikings cut the lead to 7 with two minutes to go but every time Inglemoor even thought about staging a comeback, Kentridge had an answer. KentridgeÕs Gary Bell was too much for Inglemoor to handle, Bell finished with a monsterous 32 points. Did I mention heÕs a sophomore? Bell will be a well-known name throughout Washington by his senior year. Shaquille McKissic chipped in with 17 for the Chargers as well, and Benji Bryant led Inglemoor in scoring with 21 points. Kentridge moves on to the Semi-finals where they will face the winner of Federal Way/Walla Walla tomorrow at 7 tomorrow.
Federal Way-Walla Walla
11-10 Walla Walla- Junior Cole Dickerson starts the game with a putback for Federal Way. Walla Walla's6 7Ó Weisner had a nice looking 3 to answer back. Dickerson seems to be in the right place at the right time consistently, Dickerson has the Eagles first 8 points. Almost ClichŽ how little town Walla Walla has been staying in this game by running their offense thoroughly, while Federal Way from the big city scores off athleticism. Spencer Hessler for Walla Walla breaks the full court defense by the Eagles with a runner in the lane. Federal Way's offense has been stagnant much of the 1st. Walla Walla has an impressive offensive set; These Blue Devils will not go down without a fight. Dickerson scored 8 of the Eagles 10 points.
27-18 Federal Way-Hessler starts 2nd with an easy bucket. Federal Way's Jeffery Forbes takes back lead with a 3. Dickerson with 10. Does Walla Walla have enough ammo to continue this play? Turnovers key for Walla Walla right now, Federal way went on a short spurt to pull ahead by 7. Dickerson doesnŐt do anything flashy, just puts the ball in the basket. Dickerson and Walla Walla'sGary Winston exchange 3Ős. Walla Walla had a couple turnovers that led to fast break points; Walla Walla will need to play error-free basketball if they intend on competing in the second half. Dickerson with 15 at the end of the half, Walla Walla'sWinston led the Blue Devils with 7.
40-33 Federal Way- I Came into the game expecting the majority of the scoring to be done by Federal Way's trio of athletic guards, but itŐs been all Cole Dickerson so far for the Eagles. Walla Walla has been staying in the game with some good shooting beyond the arc, but Federal Way has answered the Blue DevilŐs attack. Excellent ball movement by Walla Walla, but is getting dominated on the block by 6 7Ó Dickerson. The closest Walla Walla has been is 7, but every player on the court for Federal Way has been able to take the Blue Devil defense to the hole. Walla Walla will need to play near perfect to pull out the upset. Also, neither crowd has really been into the game oddly enough.
Federal Way-Walla Walla doesnŐt seem to have the same fire and intensity that the Eagles do. Offense canŐt produce anything for the Blue Devils, Federal Way pulling away 2 minutes into the 4th. Dickerson continues to dominate the paint, and is getting to the charity stripe on a regular basis. Walla Walla continues to fight to not let this game become a blowout.
